What is Writer in Progress?
Hey, hey! I’m Christin of Writer in Progress.
Writer in Progress (W.I.P.) is essentially a communal sketchbook — a place for exploring the day-to-day ordinary (and the not so) with the hopes of giving you the occasional laugh, cry,1 or aha! moment.
The title “Writer in Progress” is a play on “Work in Progress” — a reminder that everything (in life and writing) is an experiment and experimenting is everything.
I hope you enjoy,

W.I.P. Posting Cadence
For now, W.I.P. posts sporadically, rotating through these categories:
(A)musings: Wide-ranging essays from SQUID FACTS to Nice Guy Lying.
Fict(ish)us: Equally wide-ranging short story sketches for when an idea comes through a character’s voice instead of my own (or sometimes even through your voice).
Fictus (n.) /ˈfik.tus/ latin word meaning “to form”
The (ish) being a caveat — sometimes the line between fiction and fact gets a little blurry.
K(now)ludge: Inspired by a post from a while back (“My Biggest Fear” or “Not Knowing Things at Parties”), these essays explore something I don’t know very well (and probably should).
Kludge (n.) /klo͞oj/ “an ill-assorted collection of parts assembled to fulfill a particular purpose.”2
The (now) being the time. As in, “now I know.”
Thank you for your support of W.I.P.!
But mostly laugh (I hope).
This category title is clearly more than a bit of a stretch to fit the form, but isn’t “kludge” a word you wish you knew before?
